Manufacturer Nova Laboratories has pioneered a veterinary compounding and reformulation service within Cascade, due to demand from ‘early adopter’ vets. It provides off-label medicines in suspension or capsule form, topical solutions, creams and ointments to improve pet compliance, and handles non-sterile cytotoxic formulations safely using world class expertise and technology, based on many years supplying unlicensed human medicines.
John Seaton, Commercial and Financial Director at Nova Laboratories, welcomed the BSAVA’s efforts to provide information sheets for off-label drugs and said Nova is willing to work with vets and trade bodies to guarantee safety and quality.
“With each product we supply a quality statement to vets, which provides full information and states the nature of the product, for example if it is a cytotoxic reformulation. The product label also states this, along with appropriate storage instructions.
“In addition, our customer service team is happy to provide professional support to vets as required, sourced from a suitably experienced individual within Nova.”
